Appliance replacement

A fridge, a washing machine or a hot water system that has stopped, in a week where replacing it is not optional.

Before you apply

Check the warranty and the date of purchase first, Australian Consumer Law guarantees can outlast the manufacturer warranty, so a fault in an appliance that should have lasted longer may be for the retailer to fix. If you rent, a fixed appliance that came with the property is usually the responsibility of the landlord. Repair quotes are worth getting before you assume replacement.

What a loan is useful for here

A replacement you have priced, when repair is not viable and the item is one you use every day. Buying the cheapest model that will do the job and repaying quickly costs less overall than a larger loan over a longer term.

What we look at

Ninety days of bank statements, retrieved through a secure read-only connection, and whether the repayments land on the days you are paid.

What to have ready

  • The price of the replacement you have chosen
  • Any repair quote or warranty response, if you sought one
  • Online access to the bank account your income is paid into

Amounts, terms and the fees that apply are set out in full on our loan types page, and the exact cost of your loan is disclosed before you sign.
