Medical and dental
Gap payments, a treatment plan that runs across several appointments, or dental work that has been put off long enough that it is now urgent.
Before you apply
Ask the practice what a payment plan with them would cost, many run one at no interest, and that is almost always cheaper than credit. Check your private health cover for the annual limit you have left, and ask whether a public waiting list is realistic for the treatment you need.
What a loan is useful for here
The gap that remains after cover and any practice plan, particularly for a course of treatment quoted up front. A longer term spreads a larger quote across more pay cycles, which lowers each repayment, though it does mean paying for longer.
What we look at
Whether the repayments leave you enough to live on for the whole term, not just whether you can make the first one. That assessment is why some applications are declined.
